Authorities with the Austin Police Department (APD) successfully stopped a suspect vehicle on Highway 290 on [Thursday] following an investigation into a hit-and-run incident connected to a fatal stabbing earlier in the day.

According to initial reports, multiple APD units tracked and followed a Honda Odyssey believed to be involved in the hit-and-run of a male victim who had been stabbed and later died from his injuries. Officers later positioned themselves along Highway 290, where they were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop.

Law enforcement confirmed that both the driver and a passenger inside the Honda Odyssey were detained at the scene. The stop occurred after coordinated efforts by responding officers who monitored and contained the vehicle along the busy roadway.

In an update from the scene, officials stated that a Miranda warning was read to the individuals in custody as the investigation continues.

No further details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the stabbing have been released at this time. APD is expected to continue processing evidence and interviewing those involved as they work to determine the full sequence of events leading up to the incident.

This remains an active investigation, and authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.
